How to Clean and Protect Alcantara (Microsuede)

Called by many different names: Alcantara - Microsuede - Dinamica - Miko Suede

Lots of cars now come with Microsuede. Microsuede is a blend of 68% polyester and 32% polyurethane material, which gives it a unique look and feel while also being very durable and easier to take care of versus genuine suede leather.

Alcantara is a brand of Microsuede but there are now lots of manufacturers of this material and it has become very common and popular with car enthusiasts and for this reason it is being used more and more often in new cars, trucks, aircraft, boats and clothing and furniture.

It's important to use the correct products to both clean and protect micro-suede and in this live detailing class we'll go over how to use SONAX and Dr. Beasley's products on the micro-suede in this 2018 Carbon 65 Corvette - one of 650 built to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Corvette marque.

Directions:

Dr. Beasley's Microsuede Cleanser
 
1: Mist a small amount of Dr. Beasley's Microsuede Cleanser directly onto the surface being treated. Be careful to not oversaturate.
2: Using a clean interior microfiber towel, gently wipe the surface with low pressure to remove dirt and other contaminants as well as excess moisture.
 
NOTE:  The fabric will be slightly darker after treatment, but will return to its original color once dried.
 
For heavier soiled areas, a second treatment may be necessary.
 
Dr. Beasley’s Microsuede Protection
 
1. Using an interior cleaning brush, push microsuede fibers in one direction.
2. Spray Microsuede Protection. Do not soak the fabric.
3. Allow approximately 10 minutes for sprayed area to dry.
4. Again using the interior brush, push microsuede fibers in opposite direction.
5. Spray Microsuede Protection, again making sure to not soak fabric.
6. Allow microsuede 24-48 hours to dry undisturbed for optimal protection.
 
SONAX Upholstery & Alcantara Cleaner
 
1: Spray dirty areas and gently rub with a damp sponge.
2:  Let sit for 5-10 minutes.
3: Rub again with a damp sponge or cloth, and let dry.
 
Afterwards, vacuum or brush. Repeat application for stubborn stains or foul odors.
