TL:DW the path is too narrow and blocked by people walking two or three in a line. Avoid it like the umm, plague (Also because of the "plague").
Every few years I forget just how bad the central sections of Regent's canal are for cycling. Earlier this week I was returning to Hackney from a client in Holborn and thought to myself that it might be quiet on the canal, even quiet it's busy.
It took me the same amount of time as using Quietway 2 for the whole journey so perhaps a shorter route in that my speed was not much more than the people walking.
I'm not totally against canal path riding, Limehouse Cut, Duckett's Cut (Hertford Union) and the Lea Navigation are all great, but Regent's canal is narrow and terrible. Even the Stort Navigation is nice to ride when quiet.
