It’s a wonderful way to see Amish life and the artistic Amish handcrafts. Handmade Amish quilts are well known throughout the quilting world for distinctive look. Visit a few Amish quilt shops with me and see the gorgeous Amish handmade quilts.
An Amish quilt handmade with needle and thread is similar to other quilts yet is has some unique differences. Amish quilting is completely handstitched and generally uses solid fabrics instead of multi-colored prints. These saturated solid quilt fabrics project a strong sense of design when placed together in traditional quilt block patterns. An Amish gift shop will likely sell Amish quilts, wall hangings and quilting pillows. There are also many other small, quilted items Amish women make such as pot holders, placemats and table runners.
