If your dishwasher has not been cleaning very well; tablet still left in the machine at the end of the wash and no steam when you open the door there may be a fault with the heating system. The problem may be in the transfer hose or pressure chamber, luckily there is an easy way to test:

How to test:
Start a new auto wash (one that heats the water not a rinse).
When it's washing, open the door and add a couple of jugs of water to bring the water level up.
Close the door and let it continue washing. (it will pump out excess water).
Check a few times during the wash, before it empties for the rinses, to see if it's heating.
If adding the water makes the machine heat up and complete the wash, the problem is a restriction in the pressure chamber or transfer hose. The transfer hose runs between the wash pump motor and the pressure chamber.

How to clean the pressure chamber and hose
Unplug the appliance and isolate the water. If the machine will move out far enough the water hoses can be left in place.
You may need to remove the door depending on how much assess you have to the front panel below the door
Remove the the left side panel
Remove the panel below the door
Pull out the hose attached to the front of the pressure chamber off at both ends.
If the hose is blocked clean it out with a bottle brush and refit
If the whole pressure chamber is blocked
Take the large plastic tank (expansion tank) on the left side off.
Water will come out of it so have towels there to soak it up.
Remove the smaller red pressure chamber
Take the chamber fully apart (it all clips together) and clean it out thoroughly with hot water
Clean it out and refit it.

Reassemble the machine and try it again, use an auto/hot wash not just a rinse.
If it's all clean and clear, it should now work properly.
