Footage of Lt. General Aman Andom, the Chairman of the Provisional Military Administrative Council of Ethiopia (The Derg), giving a speech to employees at the Ministry of Information in Addis Ababa.
Reuters Text:
"He warned them that Ethiopia was facing enemies both at home and aborad and that the people were looking toe the armed forces for a solution to the many problems left over from the past. The General promised that the armed forces aimed at establishing a truly democratic system of government in the country. He pledged that they would create a genuine Constitution, and carry out land reform.
However, Ethiopia's military rulers are reported to be divided amongst themselves over differences on the country's form of administration and disagreement over who should rule Ethiopia. One group of soldiers demands the disbandment of the Military Administrative Council, a second advocates the establishment of a Radical People's Government, and a third a combined military and civilian administration."
