Despite her recording career not taking off until 1988, Ireland’s Enya has already logged a place in wikipedia’s list of the best selling artist of all time.
Her breakthrough album was “Watermark”, which reached #25 on the US album charts (#5, UK). The atmospheric “Orinoco Flow” was a single from that album and reached #1 in the UK and a number of other markets but landed at #24 in the US.
Bigger things followed and Enya’s albums, “The Memory Of Trees” and “A Day Without Rain” reached the Top-10 of the album charts in all major countries.
Earlier in their careers, Enya and her producer here, Nicky Ryan, were both involved with the Irish group Clanned.
