At the last day we cut the top of the gem stone. Today we have to cut the bottom side of the gem stone.
Now you can see the polished top of the gem stone. The next step is to cut and polish the bottom of the gem stone. So let’s see how to do it.
Now you can see affixed gem stone. Gem stone should not curved. So we check it by using the gem cutting machine before cut the bottom. The stone is set after cool the vax.
Next Mr. Chandrasiri will prepare the gem stone buy reducing the height of the gem stone.
Now you can see that made up gem stone. Let’s see the next step of the process.
Next we have to make facets of the gem stone by using the facet machine. When we make facets cut we should decide the type of the cut. There are many types of cuts. Such as step cut, flower cut, brillion cut, etc. So today we wish to use flower cut. The type of the cut is based on the gem stone.
When we cut facets we use number 260 plate. We can buy plates from Colombo.
The first gem cutting step is finished and let’s discuss about that. There are 16 facets on the gem stone. We should balance these main 16 facets. Next we use the 600 plate. It is very soft. We will cut other facets by using this 600 plate. Let’s do it.
Now you can see the final cut of the bottom. We can see the facets clearly. Next step is to polish the gem stone.
We are using copper plate to polish the bottom of the gem stone. We use black diamond powder when polishing the gem stone. If not the gem stone will bruise with black marks. Black diamond powder is very expensive but it is a quality powder. Let’s polish the bottom of the gem stone.
Final step of this process is to polish the line of the gem stone which is separate the top and bottom of the gem stone.
Now we can see the final cut of the gem stone which is 15mm.
