Resurfaced Video Abdul El Sayed's Calm Response to a Heckler Who Objected to His Faith Goes Viral

Описание: A months-old moment from Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed's campaign trail is making the rounds again online. During a town hall earlier this year, a man wearing a shirt with a large Christian cross stood up and told El-Sayed, "I voted Biden. I love all of you. This guy seems great," before adding that his concern was that "his book is something different than my book," a reference to El-Sayed's Muslim faith. Rather than having the man removed, El-Sayed told the crowd, "Let him talk, let him talk," then responded that "the book that matters for all of us is the U.S. Constitution," reminding the audience that the Constitution protects everyone's right to "pray as you choose to pray" or not pray at all. The moment, which happened earlier this year, is being recirculated as an example of composure under pressure during a heated campaign season. El-Sayed is running for the Michigan Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Gary Peters.
