Delivered by outstanding senior medical students and junior medical officers from leading hospitals across Victoria, including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Austin Health and Epworth, the TFI Medicine Lecture Series aims to provide high-quality supplemental instruction to medical students at all levels of training to help them excel in their studies and become the most proficient doctors possible

The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. Established in 2001, ASRC currently runs more than 40 holistic programs that protect people seeking asylum from persecution and destitution, support well-being and dignity, and empower people to advance their own future.

Australia’s asylum seeker policy history is a story of blunders and shame. The inhumane conditions of offshore detention centres are well-documented and not uncommonly do we see asylum seekers, both adults and children, admitted acutely to hospital suffering debilitating physical and mental health issues, where they are seen in handcuffs, treated like criminals.

For the past two decades, ASRC has worked on the frontline, advocating for the human rights of people seeking asylum, supporting and empowering some of the world’s most vulnerable people at critical junctures in the journey to freedom.

While we do not have any mandatory registration fees for our lectures, we do encourage all students to make a donation in good faith, however small, to this worthy cause when registering for each lecture. A contribution from each student, even as little as $5 (the price of a cup of coffee), can collectively make a world of difference for the asylum seeker population we hope to support.
