Sandwich Bread Recipe:
Ingredients
1 cup (240ml) warm water (about 110°F or 45°C)
2 tablespoons (25g) sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast
3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for kneading
1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Instructions:
1. Yeast Mixture:
Dissolve the sugar in warm water.
Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
2. Making the Dough:
Add the flour to a mixing bowl, then add the vegetable oil, salt, and activated sugar water yeast mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead in a standing mixer with a bread hook on low for 3 minutes and then increase speed to medium for 3 more minutes. If you don't have a stand mixer, knead by hand on a floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
3. First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat it lightly with oil.
Cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
4. Shaping the Loaf:
Punch down the dough, remove it from the bowl onto a floured surface, dust it with flour, and roll into a rectangular sheet with a rolling pin, cut it in half shape it into two loaves by rolling it up like a cinnamon roll, and place it in a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
5. Second Rise:
Cover the loaf and let it rise again until it's about 1 inch below the top of the pan, approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.
6. Baking:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the bread for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
7. Cooling:
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
