What stops us from being inclusive? If you think it is unsavoury individuals who want to hold onto power and privileged values, you’re not alone – but, the reality is simpler than that. It is all of us. Our strong desire to belong could be the very thing stopping us from developing the courage to see and free ourselves from the ‘known’. In this talk, Brown explores how we can move belonging from ‘Me’ to ‘We’. Embracing the work of philosopher Krishnamurti and researcher Dr Brene Brown, we can explore how to be more courageous and recognise our default biases with a kindness of heart, that allows us to have tough conversations with ourselves and others. Acknowledging that all of us can be the victim and the villain in each other's narratives, a dichotomy of representation that gives rise to racism without racists, misogyny with sexists, and ultimately, the persistence of inequality Georgina works at the University of Bath as the Head of Equality, Diversion and Inclusion. Her role involves networking with all walks of life and thinking of creative ways to encourage inclusivity into student communities.
