We spent the weekend at Shatterford Lakes enjoying a relaxing family carp fishing trip while staying in one of the on-site caravans complete with a hot tub and sauna. We fished from Friday through to Sunday, making the most of some quality family time by the water.

Fishing was still quite tough at times coming out of the back end of winter, with the carp only just starting to wake up. Despite that, everyone in the family managed to catch a carp over the weekend which made it even more special.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing though… the wife managed to get the Van stuck, but luckily Tom the fishery owner came to the rescue and pulled us out with the mini digger!

Between fishing sessions we relaxed in the caravan, enjoyed the hot tub and sauna, and even managed to sneak in a game of Monopoly. It was a great mix of fishing, family time, and a bit of comfort by the lake.

For me, time like this with the family is what it’s all about.
