To fix your Facebook Messenger pop-up not working, make sure you have downloaded the latest version of Facebook Messenger on your device. Then check if there are any updates available for your messenger application. Since I already have the latest version downloaded on my device, I don't have the update button available on this page, but if your app is not up to date, then you might be able to see the update button.

If that solves your problem, great; if not, open the messenger and tap on your profile picture in the upper left corner of your profile, then scroll all the way down until you find the chat heads. Enable the button. If this method still does not work, simply restart your phone by tapping on the restart button and then return to Facebook Messenger.

If that method does not solve your problem, another method is to press "long" on the messenger app and then find the app info. You can see the many buttons here, so those were some of the fixes. Click on the notification enable button right next to the notification. Make sure all of the notifications are turned on. Make sure that your chat's active option is turned on as well. Now you can go and see if your problem is solved or not.
You can try it out whenever you are not able to see the Facebook Messenger pop-up on your display.
