Uniform Choice - Rainmaker Demo 1992 CS

Описание: Alright, I rarely pitch in my own two cents on my uploads, but this one is a little too outlandish to not say something. This is post-Dubar Uniform Choice.

At this point in time, Pat Dubar had moved on to playing in the rock group Mind Funk. From what I understand, drummer Patrick Longrie (Unity) continued on with the name and recruited a band of seemingly random rock and metal musicians. This was all in an attempt to "go mainstream" with Uniform Choice, which the band had been trying to break in to since their ill-received Staring Into The Sun sophomore LP.

This demo, as well as a release entitled "Consider This...", made up the final, power-metal era of UC. Though clothing sponsorships and indie-label offers did occur during this era, the band eventually broke up after not receiving the major label interest they hoped for, and re-formed as Sol Ignition. This demo provides a hodge-podge sound of almost-but-not-quite metal, making it very deliberately difficult to pin down. Not brooding enough to reach Danzig fans, not riffing enough to be propped up next to Leeway or Ludichrist... yet the essence of it being Uniform Choice grants this demo some magical quality. The songs are, after all, pretty interesting - at times, catchy - and at least come from a place of competent musicianship.

If by some bizarre circumstance you come across this recording prior to listening to the demos or Screaming For Change, please... turn back, listen to those, then return here for a better frame of reference of why this is so confusing. To the seasoned UC fan - have at it, this one's a doozy!
