Abrasion resistance is a material’s ability to withstand wear, typically caused by mechanical action. Abrasion can occur in sliding, impingement, and slurry. In many of these applications, polyurethane has a higher resistance to abrasion than plastic, rubber or metal. Some common products are bushings, wheels, sprockets, and wear liners.
We test and formulate polyurethane to meet your abrasion challenges.
To test sliding abrasion resistance, we use the DIN method, or ASTM D5963. This measures two-body abrasion on a rotary drum abrader.
For certain jobs, we develop and use custom testing equipment and methods to ensure our customers are receiving the best product.
