I wanted to get this tower done in time for me to comment about it in the ToPB video so I could talk about well about my thoughts on ToPB getting into JToH. I personally believe after what Fren caused with this tower, it does not belong in JToH at all. But, I was more than willing to give this tower a chance.
Overall, I am not exactly sure what exactly to feel about this tower. The thing about this tower is that the design complements the gameplay. If the design is removed, the tower is going to feel very soulless and not enjoyable. That begin said, I do not like ToDIE's design because I felt it was too much and at times felt cluttered and unnecessary to me. I feel this tower was amazing with its design, it didn't have that ToDIE overdecorated feel, and I wish that this would have been how ToDIE was designed and created. That being said, I think if this tower did go down with JToH's rules that it just would be horrible.
However, the version in AToS in its full glory actually feels pretty enjoyable! I still have gripes with this tower though, like any tower that uses length and punishment as its main means of difficulty, this tower either holds your hand or makes you lose your run. I feel if this tower investigated upon unique ways of punishment, this tower would have been a masterpiece to me. The thing about this tower though, is the number of spots where you lose your run, is not exactly numerous. I feel trying to beat this as a beginner SC player would be an absolute nightmare as a result. This is why again I wish this tower investigated upon novel methods of punishment to make it more interesting. More on this point in a minute. Akin to ToTHT this tower has a similar issue where a ton of the difficulty is concentrated on one floor being 9. This has a Floor 9 outside, which is a significant chunk of the difficulty of this tower. That being said, I do not think adding more punishment to this tower would make it amazing. Since this was made with lower difficulties in mind, I feel what could have been done with this tower was limited. I feel with a tower like this, if it was significantly harder like terrifying or cata, that the true capabilities with such an idea and parlous would have taken off into something amazing.
My last gripe with this tower is the weld block mechanic, I found this extremely annoying. The mechanic itself is fine, but in this tower it forces you to quickly switch your camera movements and shiftlock around, which made it feel very gimmicky. It took me a long time to get used too it, it did get consistent, but I found it really annoying. I guess you can say I have a minor gripe with how I don't really like how the lodges were used in this tower, but I absolutely hate lodges so take that with a grain of salt.
Overall, I feel this is a better tower IN ITS ATOS STATE compared to ToTHT. But if this tower would have been dissected down to legality for JToH, I feel this would feel significantly short.
