Damavand is the tallest mountain in Iran - and in the Middle East; You can see it from the streets of Tehran - when the smoke and explosions don't prevent that.
I wanted to play a jazz/funk tune, but with a middle Eastern or North African flavour. So I have produced this. The flavour is provided by using notes from the A-harmonic minor scale against C-major notes.
Three guitars were used: A Levin classical guitar, A Hofner solid-body electric ( using amplifier gain for distortion) and a Gibson Les Paul studio (played clean). The bass is my usual Sterling Sub fretless, and the funk drums are a sample purchased from Jim Dooley of Chicago.
What sounds a bit like an accordion or concertina is (surprisingly) actually the Spanish guitar playing a bass pattern, then reversed in the audio track. The harmonica is a Lee Oskar Blues Harp.
