Unprepared Pro Se Plaintiff Forces Judge to Recuse | Judging Judges

Описание: This video shows a real courtroom hearing in a property ownership dispute between a pro se plaintiff and a retired chief of police.

The hearing starts with Judge Wolfe explaining that he previously represented the defendant’s husband many years ago. The judge asks whether the defendant wants him to recuse. The defendant says no and allows the judge to continue.

The hearing then shifts to the pro se plaintiff, who appears unprepared and off-topic. Judge Wolfe repeatedly tries to keep the hearing focused on its limited purpose. During the discussion, the plaintiff says, “I’m not a lawyer. I’m a normal human. I’m a normal man.”

Later in the hearing, the plaintiff asks the judge to recuse himself, claiming the judge knows the defendant due to her former role as a police chief. After considering the request, the judge agrees and announces his recusal.

After the recusal decision, the hearing continues briefly. The defendant asks a question that reveals the plaintiff has been collecting rent on the disputed property. The plaintiff objects, and the judge tells him to be quiet.

Because of this recusal, all local judges are now recused from the case, and the Supreme Court of the State of Tennessee will appoint a special judge to take over.

This hearing shows how courtroom procedure works when someone represents themselves, and how unexpected issues can arise even after a major ruling.
