Auburndale is an upper middle class neighborhood in northwestern Queens of New York. It's located next to Murray Hill, Bayside, Whitestone, Bay Terrace, Fresh Meadows, and Hillcrest.

Auburndale was originally settled by the Matinecock Indian Tribe before the European settlers conquered their lands. In the early 1900s, Auburndale used to be farmland. Then in the later years, it would transform into a residential suburb of Queens County. In 1901, railway service was introduced to the area. Some real estate companies bought up farmland property in this area, while more houses were being built to become an official neighborhood of Queens. Auburndale got its name from a real estate company owner named Lewis H. Green, who came from Auburn, Massachusetts (a south suburb below Worcester). He named this neighborhood as 'Auburndale' in the 1930s, because of a new library that was once built to keep the neighborhood's name in place.

As of today, Auburndale is an upper middle class neighborhood with 20,000 residents. There are White Americans, Irish-descent Americans, Greeks and Greek Americans, Italians, Italian-Americans, Koreans from South Korea, Chinese people, some Hispanics/Latinos, Armenians, some Eastern Europeans like Russians, and some other ethnic groups included.

The neighborhood is seeing growth of Chinese people and businesses moving here from Flushing and Elmhurst etc. There's growth from other middle class families and residents moving here. There's already growth from Koreans, which is sort of no surprise looking around closer areas with Koreans living in some of these communities. Greeks are also here as well, especially some of them coming from Astoria, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.
