Nigerian Food Tour: Exploring Edikang Ikong, Efere Atike, Ibaba & More in Akwa Ibom!

In this episode of my Nigerian food tour series, I traveled across Akwa Ibom State to explore the rich and flavorful dishes that define its culinary identity. From the legendary Edikang Ikong soup, regarded by many as the king of Nigerian soups to lesser-known yet mouthwatering local delicacies, this video is packed with food culture, flavor, and tradition.

Join me as I visit Oron, a coastal town known for its unique seafood-based dishes like:
• Efie Efere Atike (special okra soup),
• Efere Ayak Arara (fresh fish soup),
• Efere Ibaba (a rare soup made from forgotten traditional thickeners).

I then headed to Idoro for the classic Atama soup, followed by the medicinal and deeply traditional Editan soup. To wrap up the tour, I was served Akwa Ibom’s signature side dishes, Edita Iwa and Ikpa ye Mfi, that you’ll definitely want to try!
