A pub in Nottingham claims it has been serving beer since 1189.
That would make it around 600 years older than the United States — which sounded slightly ridiculous to me… so I decided to go and have a look.
In this video I visit the legendary Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, a historic pub built into the caves beneath Nottingham Castle that many people believe could be the oldest pub in England.
It didn’t quite go to plan filming this one, but sometimes that’s just the reality of trying to document places like this.
Still… having a pint in a pub that claims to be over 800 years old is quite something.
