Classical meets Jazz: Tom Donald Trio adaptation of the 2nd movement (Con venerazione) of "Concertino bianco for piano and chamber orchestra in C major" by one of the greatest Latvian composers Georgs Pelecis. This jazz trio improvisation was recorded during the Live concert of Tom Donald Trio at Schott Music, London, 2015.
Clear positive spirit of "Concertino bianco" realised through the principles of musical tonality reflects the fundamental quality of the composer’s creative output, stylistically categorised as “new consonant music”. Although Pelecis’ musical language has its influences from the past musical cultures, Renaissance, Baroque, and also from contemporary aesthetics, like minimalism, there is no differentiation between “old “ and “contemporary” in his music. Its spiritual power - aspiration to an unattainable ideal - is the key characteristics of the composer’s work.
