Proper planning for a landscape is an absolute necessity to have a successful project. These are some of the design elements that I consider when I start designing a new landscape.

Purpose: What is the purpose for your project. Is it to create open areas for play, gathering spaces for family, walkways for transition? All of these need to be considered when beginning your design process and should be carefully planned.

Balance: Each element in the landscape should be balanced with one another and have proper placement. It's easy to have features that may feeling overpowering or underwhelming, which leads to a feeling of imbalance. Careful thought in the design process is a must.

Unity: This is the overall 'glue' of the landscape. Professional landscapes always have a feeling of cohesiveness and harmony. Tasteful repetition of elements such as plants, stones, and other elements helps give unity to the landscape.

Color & Texture: These make the landscape interesting! When color and texture are combined together to create contrast, this allows for strong and distinctive focal points which draws the eye in. This makes a landscape exciting and inviting!
