(Epic Kickdown!) Preserved Tayside Alexander AV Volvo Ailsa B55: WTS 273T

Описание: Back in October of last year, Transport Museum Wythall hosted their yearly Twilight Running Day event, which marks the end of their opening season each year.

My third ride of the day, Was this stunning Volvo Ailsa, Which was new to Tayside Regional Council (Tayside) in February 1979 as their 273. It operated without fuss around Dundee's streets for it's entire career, Being retired in 1997, Just as National Express bought out the company to become Travel Dundee (Later National Express Dundee / Xplore Dundee). It never operated under NX, and was purchased by Berry Bus to run around in competition with NX, before being stored in a barn with four other examples a few years later, Being purchased into preservation in 2002.

Despite losing his farther, Andy Sinclair (Who owned 273) completed the restoration in his memory, Being completed in 2008. It was then a regular sight at rallies all across Scotland for many years, Before 4738 Group in the Birmingham area attempted to purchase it - However, on the trip back down south to deliver it to 4738 Group, it had a significant failure, having developed a fault that no one could seemingly resolve. It was towed back to Dundee, and never moved again under Andy's care before his sad passing in 2023. In his memory, 4738 Group decided to try again, and so it was towed south, where it was finally given the love it deserved. It's now a regular sight around Birmingham and it's surrounds.
