Helicopter footage shows the aftermath of the Mossel Bay fires following several days of firefighting operations in and around the town.
Affected areas include Aalwyndal, Island View, Vakansieplaas and surrounding regions, where emergency services continue monitoring conditions after cooler weather assisted containment efforts. The fires spread rapidly earlier this week amid strong winds and dry conditions, prompting evacuations and causing damage to homes, structures and vehicles. Local authorities have confirmed there are currently no active fires, with crews remaining on site to prevent flare-ups and secure affected areas.
