Hi, Immaculata here. :) I got a Support and Connect grant from the Goethe-Institut Nigeria in 2024 to put together 'Restful', a print book of essays, interviews and photos on how Nigerians are navigating stress and finding respite amidst our daily crinkum crankums.
I wanted to print the book in Lagos, Nigeria and out of that desire came a side-quest, in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Nigeria’s 'We Make Books' initiative. The goal was to make a recommendation guide on how you can make art books of good quality in Lagos.

This video is not a how-to but rather a behind-the-scenes story. A documentary of everything it took—from ISBN oddities and printers asking if my book was a brochure, to long days in Somolu and samples without the letter 'd'.
It’s a nod to everyone in the trenches of book making in this industry, and part of my larger journey of insisting that our ideas deserve print and distribution that respect their/our weight.
