Russia’s ruble currency has risen nearly 150% against the U.S. dollar since bottoming out days after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine three months ago. The ruble’s rebound has been the result of Russian central bank intervention and financial engineering, but nonetheless is helping prop up the country’s economy and continue the war effort. That, in turn, is playing a role in keeping oil and food prices elevated around the world.
