Toronto Maple Leafs’ Darcy Tucker’s hit on Sami Kapanen of the Philadelphia Flyers was a memorable NHL body check, and not only because of the check itself. It was the aftermath of this hockey villain's play that puts this one in the books.
Kapanen was racing down into the offensive zone looking to make the play. From what was shown on camera, Tucker appears like a phantom and stymies Sami along the boards with a vicious body check. Kapanen’s body was parallel with the ice upon impact, and then he dropped to the ice like a 200-pound anvil. The play continued, but Kapanen was knocked so hard that he did his best impression of a headless chicken on the way back to the bench, woozy beyond comprehension.
