Lorenza Rimassa, MD, Hunimed University, Milan, Italy, discusses the treatment of intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), highlighting the heterogeneity of the disease and the various options available, including local regional therapy, systemic therapy, and combinations of both. Various trials including the IMbrave150 (NCT03434379), REPLACEMENT (jRCTs071200051), ABC-HCC (NCT04803994), CARES-005 (NCT05320692), EMERALD-1 (NCT03778957), LEAP-012 (NCT04246177), and TALENTACE (NCT047126430) trials, demonstrate the potential benefits of systemic therapy alone or in combination with local regional therapy, such as TACE, in patients with intermediate-stage HCC. This interview took place at 2025 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Asia Congress in Singapore, Singapore.
