Subic Beach, Calintaan Island, Philippines - Pink Sand!

I have seen photos of Subic Beach, with its pink sand, on google images. Some photos are clearly edited to over emphasise the colours. But some really do appear to show a pink beach. So I went there for 9 days and tried to photograph the pink beach too. But in that time period, I didn't see it. I guess the conditions weren't quite right when I looked. But when I took a closer look at the sand, there is in fact pink or even red quartz particles mixed in with the sand! You can easily see it under any conditions. But when I stood back and looked at the beach as a whole...... white sand..... well, mostly. I did see a significant stretch of pink sand, so it is possible.
I try to give a more scientific analysis of this pink sand phenomenon. Is it really pink? None of my images here have been edited for colour, brightness, contrast, nothing like that at all. The only editing was to join videos and photos together.
But forget all that, Calintaan Island is a magical place to visit. I'd say stay for at least several days. The locals are amazing and genuinely friendly. This is a real island paradise!
