Unboxing and first thoughts on the Pesado 58.5 hybrid portafilter system
Changing out the stock portafilter supplied by Stone Espresso for a premium crafted hybrid version by Pesado 58.5
This upgraded item features a more ergonomically correct handle, which helps take some of the twisting motion out of the wrist when locking and unlocking the portafilter to the group head. It's also able to switch from being a bottomless set up to a spouted one just by adding the bottom plate and spout .
One of the minor niggles on my stone mini with the stock portafilter is the spout orientation, it faces the rear of the filter and drips just to the rear of the holes in the drip tray and can't be rotated. Nobody likes drips on the chrome!
This item allows the spout to be positioned in any direction the user desires.
Also, to finish up, I added a 20g high extraction basket and a puck screen into the mix, my primary aim for the screen is to keep the group head clean and reduce any coffee being drawn back through the machine during purging after extraction.
