On Friday, March 21, the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) opened the new Hloubětín tram depot, located in the district of the same name. The previous depot on this site was completely demolished six years ago due to its dilapidated condition and the impracticality of repair.
The new facility was built entirely from scratch. The building has 22 tracks and is divided into two sections – one for storage and one for maintenance.
The last time a new tram depot opened in the capital was 74 years ago.
