Yarn 🧶
• for the body and back pack you need one color and I used the big twist value yarn (took about more than half of one full skien)

• for the eye I used grey, black and white yarn

• green yarn for the leaf

[ I do recommend using acrylic yarn but you can test this out with any of yarn if you like. The weight of yarn for mine is all a 4]

Threading needle for yarn
Scissors
Stuffing / fiber fill
Hot glue gun
2 stitch markers
Pipe cleaner for the leaf
Note pad/pencil to keep track of your stitches
4.5 mm crochet hook (you can use a different size if you don’t have this one but depending on the size you pick it will change the size of your character)

Sc: single crochet
INC: increase
St: stitch
INV DEC: invisible decrease
Rep: repeat
Ch: chain
Mc: magic cirlce
Slst: slip stitch
Hdc: half double
Dc: double crochet
Tc: triple crochet
Blo: back loop only



Starting with first leg

R1: mc, sc 6
R2: INC in every st; 12
R3: INC, sc in nxt st, rep steps; 18
R4: INC, sc nxt 2 st, rep steps; 24
R5: INC, sc nxt 3 st, rep steps; 30
R6: INC, sc nxt 4 at, rep steps; 36
R7-R19: sc; 36

Once you are done with the first leg you now have to work on the middle where you will join the legs together.
Remove stitch marker and follow steps below

R1: ch 1, turn, sc 8 (ch counts as st, meaning there are 9 st total because the ch counts)
R2: ch 1, turn, sc 8
R3-R5: ^ rep then cut yarn long enough so you can sew the legs later

Second leg : rep steps 1-19 (don’t cut off yarn and don’t make the middle section)

Attaching legs (refer to video for more details, you need 2 st markers)

Step 1: sc to the other leg to connect the legs (insert 1st st marker)
Step 2: add 2nd stitch marker 9 st apart on the second leg so it can match up with the first leg. (Where the middle piece ends)
Step 3: first sc counts as st, now sc 4 times in the middle
Step 4: sc 28
Step 5: sc 4 in the middle then sc to attach to the other side of the leg(where the st marker is)
Step 6: sc 28, end st the st marker making it 66 st total
Step 7: sew the middle with the excess yarn from the first leg

R27: inv dec, sc nxt 14, rep steps; 60

You can continue to decrease if you want it to fully close but I stopped to I can still insert the leaf later. If you stop now cut off the yarn and secure the end with a knot

Eye (grey, black and white yarn)

R3: sc, inch nxt 3, sc nxt 2, inc nxt 3, sc last st;16
R4: sc nxt 2, inc in nxt 5 st, sc nxt 3, inc in nxt 5 st, sc; 26
R5: sc nxt 5 st, inc in nxt 4 st, sc nxt 8, inc in nxt 5 st, sc nxt 4;35

R6-R8: sc;35
Attach black yarn and single crochet one row

With white yarn embroider the shade in the eye the stuff and sew on

Leaf ( green yarn and pipe cleaner)

Ch 8, slst in second chain from the hook and nxt ch, sc nxt, hdc nxt, dc nxt 2, tc, ch 1 and rep these steps backwards
Then hot glue the excess yarn from the leaf to the pipe cleaner and clue ontop of crew mate

Backpack
R1: ch 18
R2: sc 17
R3: ch 1, sc 17 (ch counts as st so don’t sc into that st)
Repeat round 3 for 18 more rows so you can create the length

Now we are working on the border ( each step is a border )
Step 1: sc 13 at the edge
Step 2: sc 17
Step 3: sc 13
Step 4: sc 17 = 60 st total

Now that we have our edges done we are starting with new rows
R1: hdc; 60 and make sure you are crocheting into the right st
R2: hdc; 60
