The Handel Aria Competition is an annual event dedicated to promoting the performance of Handel’s extensive vocal repertoire.
This year’s Handel Aria Competition took place on Friday, August 8, 2025 in the historic Grace Episcopal Church on the capitol square in Madison, Wisconsin.
The seven finalists were chosen from an international field of over 100 applicants. They are:
Elisse Albian, soprano
Fredy Bonilla, baritone
Sam Denler, tenor
Paulina Francisco, soprano
Morgan Mastrangelo, tenor
Trevor Scott, tenor
Jeremy Weiss, baritone
The judges for the final round of the 9th annual Handel Aria Competition were Taya König-Tarasevich, Mimmi Fulmer, and Andrew Megil.
This year's winners were tenor Trevor Scott (first prize), tenor Morgan Mastrangelo (second prize), and baritone Jeremy Weiss (third prize). Honorable mention encouragement prizes went to Elisse Albian, soprano; Fredy Bonilla, baritone; Sam Denler, tenor; and Paulina Francisco, soprano.
We invite you to make a donation to help us support emerging singers throughout the competition process. Funds are needed for travel grants (provided to all finalists to they can afford to come participate) and cash prizes, as well as remuneration for competition judges and instrumental accompanists.
