Pakistan’s planning minister Ahsan Iqbal says China has declined to renegotiate about 5 billion dollars of expensive loans taken for CPEC power plants, even rejecting Pakistan’s request to extend repayment by 5–7 years which could have cut per‑unit power tariffs by about 3 rupees.

A Pakistani analyst in the clip calls CPEC power plants the main reason for today’s very costly electricity in Pakistan, and notes that Pakistan is now among the top five IMF‑indebted countries, unable to comfortably service its dues.
​

He contrasts this with Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz buying a ultra‑luxury Gulfstream G500 jet worth roughly 1 billion rupees and receiving new expensive vehicles for bureaucrats, even as 45% of Pakistanis live below the poverty line and around 24% struggle to get two meals a day.
​

The analyst also explains that China now holds about 21% of Pakistan’s external debt (roughly 29 billion dollars), with around 15 billion tied directly to CPEC power and transmission; he argues that had Pakistan taken less Chinese debt and used open bidding with solar and wind, current power tariffs could be at least 50% lower.
​

Saurabh mocks that Pakistan’s leaders “get kicked” everywhere yet keep returning to the same lenders (IMF, China, UAE) for rollovers at even higher interest, while still indulging in VIP jets, convoys and palaces instead of reforming the system.
