Despite having wealth and power, the King and Queen Shaivya were drowning in depression because they had no son to offer Pinda Daan (ancestral offerings). Driven by grief, the King went to the forest to end his life. There, on the banks of a lake, he met the Vishwadevas who revealed the secret of the Putrada Ekadashi Vrat.
