"I know, I contained myself about as well as a hasted cactuar throughout this video, but I am absolutely ecstatic about the release of this map and modpack for Minecraft. Hence, the rather rushed recording demeanor and overall enthusiam. I apologize for offering no apologies.

I recall coming across this mod on Planet Minecraft while it was still very much a work in progress some months ago, and coming away utterly awestruck from the team's early demonstration videos. No mere proof of concept, they had done, even then, what no one had before them; recreated nearly the entirety of Midgar, the largest city an in already expansive game, including content from multiple adjoining titles, all in a single, almost entirely hand-crafted map. The dedication to that artistry is simply mind blowing, and I cannot thank the creators enough for sharing this labor of love with the rest of us, that we might indulge in our own fits of nostalgia along with them.

As a diehard fan of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, I was nigh in tears at the thought of roaming the streets of the city that so captivated my childhood in a free, open, fully three-dimensional environment, unbound by any sense of limitation. The Playstation 1 may be long gone, but one of its most memorable vistas shall now live on in a new medium for a new age, and I can't wait to see what comes of this project from here.

INSTALLATION METHOD #1:

Launch the Technic Launcher for Minecraft.
Download vanilla Minecraft 1.6.4.
Unzip the file downloaded from the first link above into your .technic\modpacks\vanilla folder.
Launch the modpack via Technic.

INSTALLATION METHOD #2:

Click the second link above, and generate a URL for the Midgar Explorer Technic platform.
Click 'Add New Pack' on the Technic Launcher, and input the URL from the previous step.
Confirm the download, then click the options button beneath Midgar Explorer's Technic icon (this creates the requisite file paths within your Technic directory), and immediately close it.
Click the first link above, and download the savegame files from the link listed on that page.
Unpack the savegames into your .technic/modpacks/midgar-explorer folder
Launch the modpack via Technic.

All versions recommend using OptiFine, available at the link above, to extend render distances and graphical performance.
