Описание: Thomas Edison had some very good 'ahead of the game' recording equipment but he was half deaf and with pretty poor taste in music. Nevertheless, it was he who often decided who and what was recorded on his label. Frieda Hempel was one of the few great opera singers who recorded on his label. However, most the tracks that she recorded for Edison were not particularly distinguished parlour ballads, etc. A waste of a famous opera singer. However, here's an operatic aria written by Meyerbeer. Diamond discs had 'vertical' grooves and played longer than normal acoustic recordings of the period. This aria was recorded on 7th June 1918.
