Silver flake with Teal Candy Spherical Gloss!

Описание: This was a big project but we had to one up the Venus Megashift/Crystal Lavender somehow. After days of work and a lot of learning we think this one takes the cake. Thanks to Scott and Bob for coming all the way from New Jersey to check us out.

Thankfully we applied the previous liquid wrap properly and it peeled like a dream. The goal is a film thickness of 1.6mm and we managed to hit 1.8ish. Never skimp on product. Customers expect to peel it like this, not in pieces. A quick wash and it was ready for the next wrap.

Masking is usually the most tedious part but these Audis are pretty straight forward. We taped down the window trim to create a bigger gap and allow for better separation of paint. As always use quality materials and take your time when masking.

This project was done in Raail Spherical. We started with a Black Spherical Base Coat through the compressor. We are using a Black Widow HVLP with 1.7 tip for the base. Then we move onto our new C-Silver flakes (drpigment.com). We are using the Black Widow again but with a 2.0 tip this time. We decided to throw 5 grams of Aluminum Silver Pearl in with the 5 grams of flakes for a little more color coverage. I've never sprayed flake before and did not sand it down before moving to the next step. I would definitely recommend sanding the flake smooth so the next layer lays down flat.

Next up is our newest product: Candy Concentrates. This stuff adds a crazy amount of depth to the paint and of course some color. We threw some Teal Candy in Spherical Base coat (clear) and sprayed it over the flakes with the 1.7 tip back in. We were just looking for a decent layer of color with the flakes still clearly visible. I knew what the end result would look like in my head but this was the first time I sprayed it.

Next up is the Spherical Gloss. Spherical Base is very matte so we rarely leave it without gloss. I try to stress the importance of a good environment when spraying gloss to get the best finish possible however, we have to work with what we've got. For gloss, we are using a clean gun with a 1.3 tip and starting with a medium first coat then moving to a wet second coat. The next day we sand it down and again, we should have sanded the flake first. After its smooth we throw one last wet coat of gloss on and let it dry for at least 4 hours before unmasking.

Sometimes you have to make mistakes in order to succeed but we think this project came out amazing. This is actually my girlfriend's car and she had no idea what color I was going to do. I think it is pretty clear from the video but she thinks it is beautiful and I do too. The candy just adds a whole new level to the look and I am so excited to add it to the lineup. Scott and Bob were awesome guys and loved seeing behind the scenes. Our shop is always open to interested installers just reach out to us.
