Model pianos are mostly cross strung. Parallel string pianos is not to be looked down upon.
THis old Bechstein is a good example. Superior tone purity, and expressive nature is a good warhorse, albeit at a very friendly cost.
My special interest in tuning this piano is that tonic chord on parallel string pianos will sound a lot more calm and less vibrating as compared to modern instruments. This is my understanding from the great Daniel Barenboim piano, from a demo comparison video played by him.
