This UNESCO World Heritage site covers the old canal district of Hamburg, known as the Speicherstadt and Kontorhaus. Although Hamburg is a well-known port city, I was surprised to discover it has more canals and bridges than Amsterdam and Venice combined! We spent a great morning here, walking around the old port area with its enormous brick buildings, feeling like the bustling port of the 1920s was still with us. Keep an eye out as well for the incredible Chilehaus building!
