Few people have heard of the Mud Islands - a bird haven and hidden gem of Port Phillip Bay. Managed by Parks Victoria, the Mud Islands are located in the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park and are home to tens of thousands of birds!
Arthur Rylah Institute (DELWP) scientist, Peter Menkhorst, has started a long-term monitoring project funded by the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority. The project will track the nesting sites, numbers and species birds on the island and inform how we can best protect this internationally significant Ramsar site.
