Elden Ring and the Gatekeeping Myth

Описание: This commentary will discuss the recent discourse surrounding Elden Ring and the Souls community. The Souls Community has garnered a reputation for being gatekeepers and elitists with a "Get Good" mindset which, in turn, has potentially turned off a lot of players from giving these games a try.

This video will act as a defense of the Souls community and From Software's design philosophies and will attempt to shed a light on the true nature of these games and their fans. While the fanbase is not perfect, I think anyone who comes in with an open mind will find most of the Soulsbourne fanbase to be welcoming, helpful, collaborative, and extremely passionate.

Topics include the "git gud" narrative, backseat gaming, accessibility, easy modes, game difficulty modifiers, the click moment, and the influence of "Letmesoloher", a well known Elden Ring player who utilizes the summoning system to help players overcome Malenia, on of the hardest bosses in the game. This character has inspired lore videos, fan art, and various articles that were highlighted in this video.

Elden Ring is developed by Fromsoft and published by Bandai Namco. It is available on Microsoft's Xbox One, Series X, Series S, Sony's Ps5, Ps4, and PC via Steam.

Gameplay is of Elden Ring with some misc clips from a few other titles.
