I shot this snare comparison with both high and medium tunings, using my Yamaha EAD10 (no effects, samples, or processing were used) so that I could see and hear the direct differences between these two snares.
The S.L.P. G-Maple has a 13 ply maple shell, while the Orange County (OCDP) has 9 plies of maple, which contributes significantly to the differences in tone.

Stock heads on both sides
The two drums sound quite similar, but the real difference is the amount of ring that is produced. Thicker plied snares have a drier, more focused tone, while thinner shells have a more open and less controlled tone, so it really becomes a matter of preference what you want out of a 13" snare drum.
I hope this video helps anybody who is curious about the differences, enjoy! Feel free to subscribe if you like content like this and want to see more!
