5 Southern Utah Hikes You’ve Never Heard Of ⛰️
1. Jenny’s Canyon (Snow Canyon State Park)0.5 mi round-trip | ~65 ft gainSuper easy walk to a hidden a lot canyon near St.George. Perfect for toddlers or a quick stop!
🐶Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
2. Peek‑a‑Boo Slot Canyon (Kanab)0.8 mi out & back (or 7 mi round-trip from main parking lot) | 85–561 ft gain🐶Dog friendly but must be on a leash!
Do not attempt to drive the sand road without high clearance and 4x4, it is a hefty tow bill! You can walk from the parking lot (bring lots of water there is no shade) or hire a tour guide to take you in!
3. Santa Clara Petroglyphs (Anasazi Trail – St. George)~2.4 mi round-trip | ~300 ft gainDecently easy hike for families or to see some easy to find Petroglyphs!
🐶Dogs are welcome and may be off leash in some areas.
4. Headquarters Canyon (Capitol Reef area)~2.3 mi round-trip | ~400 ft gainOff the beaten path, relatively easy to get to slot canyon. Always be aware of weather and flash flood probability when going to a a lot canyon! (Currently closed until August 2025!)
5. Dry Fork Narrows + Peek‑a‑Boo & Spooky (Escalante)~6 mi loop | ~700 ft gainVery difficult slot canyon to get to and hike in. Only attempt of fully prepared and have read restrictions for climbing ability and weather as flash floods happen very quickly here! Bring lots of water as there is almost no shade.
