Metal casting Brass Slingshots!

Описание: In this video I’m casting and finishing a solid brass slingshot from start to finish, combining digital design with traditional workshop techniques.

The project begins in Fusion 360, where I design the slingshot, create the pattern mould, and also model a knurled, threaded brass storage box to go with it. Once the designs are complete, everything moves into the workshop.

The brass is melted down in a 3kg jeweller’s metal casting furnace made in England, poured into the mould, and left to cool ready for machining. After casting, the slingshot and storage box are brought to final shape on a Raglan milling machine, followed by drilling, tapping, and plenty of hand sanding to refine the fit and finish.

The knurled threaded storage box is machined to match the slingshot, adding a practical and satisfying finishing touch to the build.

Once everything is assembled, the slingshot is taken outside for some test shooting to see how it performs.

No shortcuts — just CAD, molten metal, old-school machines, and a lot of hands-on work.
