I didn't follow this step for step, and on MX Linux Cinnamon Respin, no removal of LibreOffice is needed (since LO didn't come pre-loaded). For step 3, I went to Apache Open Office's website and downloaded the latest deb. And I used Nemo for step 4 - extracting and navigating to the folders. I only used the terminal to install all packages at once.
