Yuugenmagan and Mima's theme
This piece is the model for my current boss themes. It doesn't seem a lot different now, but somehow the older song has WEIGHT to it (^^;
Or maybe it's that the current pieces are light? (I don't think that's it either...)
Yeah, I can definitely sense the similarities to the current boss themes here.
And yeah, I can also agree the original also had "WEIGHT", tho' it was a weight that the ears couldn't handle for long···
And this one is in C minor, for once! My favorite key is here! The one I pretty much always compose stuff on, because that's what works best on my keyboard while still managing to compose something in a minor key!
Yeah, I guess I could get a MIDI controller to compose with it··· however my tracker doesn't support MIDI very well, so it might not work··· ugh···
Not sure if there'll be that much of a difference in composing with an actual music keyboard compared to a PC keyboard anyway···
Enough rambling, more about the track and related: yeah, apparently Mima's always been Reimu's opponent, tho' here she's more like just a random boss than the actual villain. I like how you can even tell how ZUN treated her with his compositions, because this one is intense but also not as much as some other tracks, while her theme in the 3rd game is··· not intense, I guess.
It's also kinda funny how this track is titled, 'cos Mima is actually an evil spirit, so the very opposite of an angel. Or maybe that title rather refers to who's fighting her instead. I dunno.
Also, this whole recording has an interesting length, that YouTube also happened to round that duration to a nicer value xddddd
