Glass is primarily made from silica sand, which is rich in silicon dioxide (SiO₂). To make glass, the sand is heated to extremely high temperatures — around 1700°C (3090°F) — until it melts into a liquid.
Often, soda (sodium carbonate) and limestone (calcium carbonate) are added to lower the melting point and improve durability. Once melted, the liquid glass is shaped, cooled, and solidified into its final form.
