Reinventing education - The growing dependence on AI has ignited conversations about its effects on our mental faculties. Recent reports indicate that AI might lead to cognitive decline, fostering a reliance that could diminish our skill in creative problem-solving. How can we counter this trend? Here's how I assisted a cautious writer in embracing his creativity and beginning to write independently, avoiding AI's easy routes.
The solution lies in leveraging the unique attributes that characterize our humanity—qualities that AI cannot duplicate. One such attribute is symphonic thinking, the ability to link diverse ideas and derive new meanings from them. I urged him to draw inspiration from various fields, such as art, science, history, and personal experiences. By weaving these different elements together, he created narratives full of originality and depth.
While AI is an extremely useful tool, it's essential to remember (and teach) that our innate creativity and symphonic thinking are unparalleled. By fostering these abilities, we can continue to innovate in ways that machines cannot.
